A couple of my newest illustrations created with gouache and I'm reaaaally loving this colour palette. Right now I'm greatly inspired by Lisa Hanawalt (the designer of BoJack Horseman) and one day I want to do a whole series of animals wearing nice clothes. I've recently added quite a few things to my portfolio, please take a look! www.amyhodkin.com

|From student halls to our lovely little house|
As summer break is coming to an end and the city centre becomes raided by freshers I still can't believe I'm going into my final year of university. It felt like yesterday that I moved into halls and went through the awkward (but fun) stage of meeting all my flat mates and now I'm trying to get my head around a 7000 word dissertation whilst simultaneously mentally planning my degree show. It's stressful but very exciting. I'm trying to get an early start on the research so I'm not in a complete flap by the end of it!

In between the reading I've been busy painting away for the past couple of weeks and it's been really great trying something new especially before my final year. I always used to think painting wasn't my thing but I finally stepped out of my comfort zone and I'm completely loving the results. Note to self: Don't stop experimenting with different techniques! You never know what you might actually like.
Also, I thought I'd mention a few more things. Jake is now being represented by Silson Contemporary in Harrogate; we visited the gallery space a few days ago and it is gorgeous! The official opening is in a couple of weeks and I'm really excited to see the space when it's all set up. I'm extremely proud of him and admire his talent so much. (I can't believe I get to share my future with this guy!!)
If you didn't already catch it on social media, I was interviewed as part of Joanna's Blog Gem series which you can read here. It's always really warming to know people like my blog that much they want to share it with others, I'm so thankful for these kind of posts. Joanna's blog is lovely too especially if you are looking for something creative.
Lastly, I recently found out that my work is going to be featured in Volume 5 of Stolen. Stolen is an Australian publication celebrating analogue artwork from both amateur and professional artists. I've been following their Instagram for a couple of years now and finally decided to submit some of my own stuff, I can't wait to see my work printed in an actual book and it'll be awesome to be featured alongside so many talented creators from around the world!
That's all from me; I hope you have a great week ahead!

As I said before in my Cornwall post, we stopped by at the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden in St. Ives. I was quite excited to visit as I love her work for it's elegance and simplicity and it actually informed a lot of my very first screen printing project I did back in my first year of university. Oh how the time has flown by!

|The lovely colourful houses at Mevagissey 💗|
Hello! I'm back from Cornwall and very sad about it. For the second year running I've had a really fun time with Jake and his family and I'm so grateful that they invited me along because it is beauuuutiful and I do want to live there someday. We were so lucky with the weather this year and the hot days meant we could have proper beach days with swimming and kayaking in the sea! It felt so calming to wake up to the sound of seagulls and a stunning sea view from our bedroom window.
